THE BALTIC SEA EVENT – ÖSTERSJÖ EVENTET
Cofounder of an NGO (Handelshuset) the organization that initiated a Marin Center in Simrishamn Sweden.
During the summers 2006-2008 the Baltic Sea Event was created with the objective to inform the general public about the current situation of marine environment in the Baltic Sea. To engage interest to support natural marine resource protection, lecturers from universities in different countries, students, politicians and engaged persons were invited. The conferences and exhibitions were free to the public. It was all arranged in an old storage house down by the harbor that had not been used for a long time. The energy to start a Marine Center was very strong and the purpose was the content and to do the best about the exposition space, facing the beautiful harbor with its ships.
Lalla Thord was curator for the events. In charge of arranging for the conference areas and the different exhibitors. She worked with children doing art projects on the actual topics for the conference. The current state of the Baltic Sea was illustrated and explained. The aim was for the information and science to be susceptible to the children in charge of the art.
Their artwork was then exposed at the Baltic event as well as Lalla’s artwork.
